I began this last night. Using 5mm needles and 4ply yarn. Shall we say not a good look? Very, very loose. The photos on Ravelry of others don't look this loose. One thing I'm noticing using these particular needles is that they are really slippery - perhaps because they're metal. I began making something else with them a couple of weeks ago and then moved on to wooden tips - a big difference in the tension. I didn't remember this until it was too late. This is what I've knitted so far:
I'm going to undo it all, re-cast on with some 4mm wooden ones and add a few more stitches just in case - we'll see how that goes. In the mean time it's back to another set of owlies until after I've got the kids from school. It's a wintery cold day today - the heater doesn't appear to make a difference so I'm off to turn on every other heater I can get my hands on as well as the dehumidifier int hopes this will make a difference - and a big cup of steaming hot, fresh coffee on my return! Might need to borrow some gloves yet...
