Sewing.

One Sunday each month I meet with a few others for a day of sewing.  So far I haven't made much progress.  My sewing mojo has disappeared in favour of the knitting bug I suspect.  Today was sewing day.  It ended up being just a couple of hours due to one thing and another - almost like the universe trying to keep me away.  But I eventually got there...

My plan for today was to make a skirt pattern from an old pattern making book I picked up some time back but have never done anything with.  It's dated 1942 so fits right into the whole vintage/retro thing.  Due to my limited time I didn't get any further than the basic block as the book lays it out.  I have a few interesting things going on as far as my body shape goes so have one change to do before I make the actual pattern I will sew from.  I'll post photos tomorrow depending on how far I get.

I'm intending to work my way through this book making patterns, learning what I can from where I can and seeing what I come up with.  I struggle with clothes and fashion and style.  I always have.  But right now this is less about fashion and more about  the process - if I make some decent clothes as a result then it's a bonus - however, given my ability to be rather inconsistent as to what I work on at any given time, I'm not about to promise much.  It will be as and when I feel like it...but Sunday Sewing will ensure there is something happening now and then.

Sometimes I wish I was different - more consistent, productive, styley,etc...but alas I am none of these so will have to figure out what works for me - generally that means multiple projects and absolute chaos.  Some days I crave order but more often than not chaos reigns!
