The only constant is change. Apparently. This morning my partner reminded me our tenancy agreement runs out in a little over two months. He's of the belief that it will not be renewed this time. We barely got out of moving last time due to being offered a new lease for a shorter term than usual at no increase in rent - at the last minute. By now we also should have had at least one property inspection and be nearly due for another. So far nothing. Although I have been expecting to go out to the letterbox and find the letter any day. He might just be right.
Today I've been checking out as many available properties as I can find online. It's not looking hopeful. We're looking at increasing out weekly rent by $100 or more! Our current property is cheap I think, but then it's also proven to be a bit of a dodgy one too. Leaks have been our main problem. Many and various and none of them due to us. Oh and it's damn cold in winter. I'll be happy to be shot of this place if we can find somewhere else - and don't mind paying extra for a place that's warmer too!
This whole moving thing requires some forward planning. It costs a fair bit of money to move. Disconnection fees. Reconnection fees. Paying a mover. Cleaning fees. Bond money. An overlap in moving out/moving in. We've been waiting for this for the last 18 months and simply have not had the money available. So, I've also created an up to date budget that should see us through the next few months and hopefully project how much we can save if we stick strictly to it. And that's a big 'IF'! We are very good at making up budgety things to follow - and not following them. All the bills get paid and the incidentals are in there as well. We save a bit every month as well. But we seem to waste an awful lot too just by looking at the bank statement today. Part of that is my fault. I have been really lazy and just not done what needs to be done. Simple really. So it's back to menu planning and pretty much not spending anything for the next while. And to keep ourselves busy we have got to get this place in to shape for moving out. Cleaning, tidying, repairing. Yay...can't wait!
